Drawing Check List under AS 1100
Check a finished drawing against the main requirements of AS 1100 before you issue it, and see exactly what is missing.
Engineering student calculators
Free textbook calculators with every step shown, so you can check your own working. Pick one, type in your numbers and see the formulas worked out. Or switch to Ask a question for an explained answer. No account needed.
Calculated from standard textbook formulas, with every step shown. The formulas are fixed, so the working does not need checking: what matters is the numbers you type in. Use these calculators only if you are competent to choose the inputs (loads, material strength, dimensions, supports) and check your units and assumptions. For learning and checking your own working: design and sign-off are for a qualified engineer. Drafting Central does not store the numbers you type.
How this calculator works
AS 1100 is the Australian standard for technical drawing. Part 101 sets the general principles that apply to every sheet, and part 201 adds the rules for mechanical engineering drawings. Clients and fabricators expect drawings to follow it, so a missed title block entry or an unstated projection can mean a drawing is sent back.
Work down the list and mark each item as there, missing, or not applicable to this drawing. The result separates the core items every sheet should show from the good-practice items, and names the clause of the standard behind each one. The list is written in plain words and is a prompt, not the standard itself: always check the current edition.

Common questions
Which projection should I use?
AS 1100.101 prefers third angle projection. First angle is allowed, but whichever you use must be stated on the sheet with its symbol or a note.
What must the title block contain?
The firm or organisation, the drawing title, the drawing number and signatures or initials with dates. The scale and the projection should also be shown in or near it.
Does this make my drawing compliant?
No. It checks that the main items are present. Compliance needs the full standard, the detail of each requirement, and any client or contract rules.
Where do I get AS 1100?
From Standards Australia or an authorised reseller. The standard is copyright, so this page gives short prompts and clause numbers and does not copy its text.
